The Undertaker Isn’t Sure John Cena Winning The WWE Title Is Best For Business, But It’d Be Special

The Undertaker will be happy either way if John Cena does or does not win the WWE Championship before retiring.

Speaking on the Six Feet Under Podcast, The Undertaker discussed John Cena’s retirement run. He talked about the possibility of him winning the WWE Championship one final time.

The Deadman admitted he wasn’t sure if Cena winning the belt would be “best for business”, but says he won’t be unhappy either way. He added that the model of his last year in wrestling is something people should follow, giving the chance to see their heroes one final time. The Undertaker also said that he believes wrestlers should lose their last match. His final match was a win over AJ Styles at WrestleMania.

The Undertaker On John Cena Winning The WWE Championship Again

“I don’t know that it’s best for business, but I do know it would be a very special moment. I think a lot of people would be very pleased, and personally, I wouldn’t have a problem with it if it does happen,” The Undertaker said.

“I think sometimes, every once in a while, you can throw somebody a bone. Flair’s had that record for so long—although, you know, Ric will tell you there were a couple of times no one even knows about where he dropped the title and won it back. I know for sure because he wouldn’t have gotten out of the country if he hadn’t. It’s a great story.”

The Undertaker continued, “I love that Cena is doing this farewell tour, and I think for people of that caliber, hopefully, this becomes the model moving forward. Even though they don’t do as many live events anymore, getting to go out on a tour where fans know where they can see you one last time and you can address those audiences—that’s special. I love that.”

“By no means is this going to change his legacy in any way. But not only does he have to win it, then he’s got to lose it. So what do you do? Does he retire with the belt? That doesn’t sit right with me. You tend to go out on your shield or have that defining moment.”

“I don’t have a strong feeling about what’s best here. However it goes, it’s going to be good. People will get to see him and share that moment.I won’t be upset if he gets it, and I won’t be upset if he doesn’t. What I do know is that the people are going to be excited to see him,” added The Undertaker.
