The Rock Says ‘Mahalo’ For Fans Making Moana 2 A Global Success

Moana is one of the biggest Disney animated movies of all time. Earlier this year, the sequel, Moana 2, hit theatres. The movie was a huge success and it grossed over a billion dollars. Recently, The Rock shared his thoughts on Moana 2 finally streaming on the digital media platform Disney+.

The Final Boss took to Twitter to share his thoughts on Moana 2‘s debut on Disney+. He also praised his grandfather, The High Chief Peter Maivia, who was the true inspiration for the People’s Champion’s character Maui.

“CHEE HOOO!?? MOANA2 is officially on @DisneyPlus today! MAHALO for making MOANA a global embrace of our Polynesian culture. Shout out to my grandfather in heaven, High Chief Peter Maivia – my inspiration behind the spirit of MAUI. Enjoy the movie! ~?,” Dwayne ‘The Rock’ tweeted.

The Rock previously told People Magazine how his grandfather inspired him for the Maui character.

“My grandfather, he died here, in Hawaii. And he died in 1982. We were here when he died, and I was running around; I didn’t understand the significance of his passing. I was 10. [Peter Maivia] was just like Maui, from his build to his hair to his charisma, and he would sing, and he was loved. So every time I play Maui, I’m in the skin of my grandfather. And it really moves me,” he added.
