Swerve Strickland is set to be with AEW for the foreseeable future.
At AEW All In 2024, Strickland was shown signing his new AEW contract. He later stated that he had finalized one of the most lucrative wrestling contracts in the industry.
Speaking on The Bootleg Kev Podcast, Swerve Strickland was asked about being under contract with AEW until 2029. The former AEW World Champion confirmed that this was accurate.
“Yup. There’s nowhere else I would rather be,” Swerve Strickland said. A” lot of people say, ‘Oh, that’s just a PR, he’s supposed to say that sh*t.’ No, I mean that sh*t from the bottom of my heart. There’s no other place I would rather be. Do I have bad days, opposed to good days? Of course. This is a job, I have frustrations here and there.
“But I work through those frustrations better here than I did in other places anywhere else in the world, whether it be Lucha Underground, MLW, WWE, NXT. I’ve found…Tony Khan and me have always worked through frustrations. Yeah [he lets me cook]. But there’s been times when I’m like, ah, we didn’t cook as best as we could have been able to cook. I’m someone, I’m not going to half-ass that.”
Strickland earned a world title shot by defeating Ricochet at AEW Revolution.
