Butterbean is stepping back into the wrestling ring in a match that nobody expected to be happening in 2025.
The former boxer has struggled with his health in recent years, but has sought help from Diamond Dallas Page. DDP, using his DDP Yoga, helped Butterbean to lose weight and gain a range of motion he hasn’t had in years.
He used this to help get back into the ring, wrestling his first matches in 13 years earlier this year. This is leading to a huge return to the ring for Butterbean (Eric Esch) as he battles a Japanese legend in a huge event on WrestleMania weekend.
Butterbean is returning to the ring for a match at WrestleCon later this year. The event is taking place in Las Vegas on April 17th at the Mark Hitchcock Memorial WrestleCon Supershow.
The former boxer will take on Japanese star Minoru Suzuki in somewhat of a dream match. Both men are known for their no-nonsense attitude and hard-hitting punches, so this will be one fasn wont want to miss out on.
Additionally, Dan Severn has been drafted in to keep the peace. He will be the outside enforcer for the match to make sure no funny business goes on. Anyone trying anything with him at ringside will be in for a rude awakening.
“Its the return of EricButterBean vs @suzuki_D_minoru with a special enforcing ref @danbeastsevern @ the Mark Hitchcock Memorial WrestleCon Supershow.” WrestleCon wrote on Twitter.

Butterbean has some notable pro wrestling ‘matches’ on his resume
Butterbean is more well known for his boxing than his wrestling. His biggest appearances in wrestling came in the WWE in their “Brawl for All” tournament, where he knocked out Bart Gunn in a shoot boxing match at WrestleMania XV.
Esch competed in two matches earlier this month. The SuperShow battle with Suzuki will be his third pro wrestling bout since 2012, which was a win over Cliff Compton in Guyana. Butterbean only has 13 pro wrestling matches on his resume, including a 2010 win over Corey Graves (then known as Sterling James Keenan).
