D’Lo Brown got emotional as he talked about Droz and the WWE Hall of Fame.
In 1999, a tragic accident occurred during a WWE match involving D’Lo Brown and Darren “Droz” Drozdov. During the bout, Brown attempted a running powerbomb, but the move went wrong, and he accidentally dropped Droz on his head and neck.
The incident was later attributed to a combination of factors, including the looseness of Droz’s clothing, which may have affected D’Lo Brown’s grip during the move. The impact caused two fractured vertebrae in Droz’s neck, instantly paralyzing him from the neck down.
Despite the severity of his injuries, Droz maintained a positive outlook on life. He often expressed gratitude for the support he received from his family, friends, and the wrestling community. Droz lived with his paralysis for over two decades, inspiring many with his resilience. Unfortunately, he passed away in 2023 at the age of 54.
The injury has always weighed heavily on D’Lo Brown, despite Droz forgiving him for the costly mistake. He wants to honor the late former WWE star, even if it affects his own potential WWE Hall of Fame induction.
D’Lo Brown spoke about this on AdFreeShows’ The False Finish with Conrad Thompson. The former WWE Superstar admitted that if he ever got a WWE Hall of Fame induction, he wants Droz to be inducted with him. It was an emotional moment with Conrad Thompson which showed the caring side of Brown.
“This part I’ve never said anywhere: If I’m ever fortunate enough to go in the WWE Hall of Fame, I’m only going in if Derek [Droz] can go with me.” D’Lo Brown said, as he began to tear up.
“You got me to cry! That’s the beauty, the irony, and the tragedy of wrestling—it makes you feel.” D’Lo Brown added.
