Indi Hartwell had a great time working with Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae and is so grateful to have been a part of “The Way”.
In 2020, Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae turned heel to form their own stable. They recruited Indi Hartwell and Austin Theory into their group, naming it “The Way”.
The group was very successful in NXT. Gargano won the NXT North American Championship twice, while LeRae and Hartwell won the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship together.
Speaking with MCW Pro Wrestling, Indi Hartwell spoke about The Way and how she got involved with Gargano and LeRae. She revealed that she found out she was working with them from watching NXT. However, she said she was inspired by the pair from their time in the indies and was “so grateful” to get to work with them.
“It was random at first because I found out I was working with them by watching NXT. I don’t know if you remember the segment. But the story was that I bought them a TV. And I didn’t even know that was happening! Candice had DMed me on Twitter and said, ‘Oh, just so you know, I think we’re mentioning you tonight on TV.’ I was like, ‘Oh, okay.’” Indi Hartwell said.
“It was so cool because, while I didn’t grow up watching the indies, before I got to WWE, I was huge into keeping up with them. Johnny and Candice were a huge part of that. Getting to work with them taught me so much, and tagging with Candice made me more confident in the ring. I’m just really grateful for my time with them,” added Indi Hartwell.
WWE released Indi Hartwell in November 2024. She recently shared what she’s looking for in scouting perspective promotions to sign with.
