Elijah, formerly known as Elias, looks back on the end of his time in WWE and reflects on why he felt frustrated.
WWE released Elias in a round of cuts in September 2023. He had a prominent run in the company, but he wasn’t featured as much after Triple H took control of creative. The former WWE 24/7 Champion is now in TNA, as he signed with the company in February.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Elijah discussed the end of his time in WWE and noted that he was “pissed off” because he couldn’t break through.
“Towards the end of my run in WWE, I was pissed off, man,” he said. “I was beating against the door, trying everything I can to steer this ship in some direction to make something happen. I felt … no matter what it was, I’ll take anything and do everything I can to make it great, whatever it may be. But I had just felt toward those last couple of months, that didn’t matter. There was just nothing I could do to break through.”
“When I got the call that said, you’re let go, I was really angry about that. [I was] really upset, so much so that I said, you know what, forget the whole thing, forget it ’cause if that’s the result, c’mon, I was just really angry.” (H/t Wrestling Inc. for the transcription)
Elijah is set to face Brian Myers on the March 6th episode of TNA iMPACT. He is also scheduled to compete in a ten-man tag team match at TNA Sacrifice.
