Booker T Loves The ‘Curve Ball’ That A John Cena Heel Turn Presents

Booker T reacts to John Cena‘s massive change in character.

In a shocking twist, John Cena attacked Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes at WWE Elimination Chamber, signaling a rare heel turn in his career. In doing so, Cena also aligned with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who previously tried get Rhodes to sell his soul to him. On the Hall of Fame podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Booker T weighed on this major creative move, which still has the WWE Universe still reeling.

“I love it, man,” Booker said. “It’s just what wrestling is, when you think you figured it out and they throw you another curve ball. This one right here, ‘Is John Cena gonna come back and win the title?’ That’s what everybody was thinking about, John Cena is going to win the Chamber and go on to break the record. I think that’s the story, not John Cena turning heel to actually get that accomplished, but I love what wrestling is man. When you think you got it all figured out, they throw you a curveball. This is heading into WrestleMania season.

“I don’t care what anybody says. This is not about John Cena’s wrestling ability, this is about the story,” Booker continued. “I think that’s what wrestling is. I think that’s what draws the crowd to watch a professional wrestling event is the story. The wrestling matches, it is what it is. A five-star match means nothing it means nothing to the masses that want to have their imagination suspended for that moment.”

Following his appearance at WWE Elimination Chamber, Cena flew out to Africa to presumably continue filming for a movie. His next advertised WWE date comes on March 17, when Raw emanates from Brussels, Belgium. Like always, though, that is subject to change.
