Jon Stewart Uses John Cena Heel Turn To Break Down Trump-Zelenskyy Feud

Jon Stewart has used John Cena’s recent heel turn to succinctly explain Donald Trump’s meeting with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The two presidents clashed in the White House this week with a controversial meeting. Zelenskyy was asked to leave after being tag teamed by Donald Trump and JD Vance as relations between the US and Ukraine deteriorated. Just days later, John Cena became a heel for the first time in over two decades.

At Elimination Chamber, Cody Rhodes turned down The Rock’s offer to “sell his soul” to the People’s Champion. Instead, John Cena kicked Cody Rhodes in the nuts and joined forces with The Rock in an attempt to become the new WWE Champion at WrestleMania 41. This set up a match at WrestleMania as Cena chases a record 17th world title.

Jon Stewart highlights how WWE explains current world politics

The two situations are surprisingly similar, as illustrated by Jon Stewart on The Daily Show. He broke down the geopolitical situation using the WWE as a metaphor, in which he admitted it was a slightly simplistic comparison.

In the metaphor, Cody Rhodes was President Zelenskyy while The Rock represented Russia and Vladimir Putin. Cody refused to accept The Rock’s offer to sell his soul (the invasion of Ukraine), telling him to “go fuck yourself” as he had John Cena (Donald Trump) as back-up.

However, just like in that infamous meeting in the Oval Office, John Cena kicked Cody Rhodes in the nuts on The Rock’s signal, just as Donald Trump intervened in the argument with Zelensky, doing the supposed bidding of Putin.

Based on this, it would appear that Travis Scott was the JD Vance character, jumping in with a few jabs every now and then.
