Drew McIntyre Tells CM Punk To ‘Cry More’ Over The Rock’s Still Relevant Dig At Him

Drew McIntyre has reopened old wounds as The Rock has once again stolen the WrestleMania spotlight from CM Punk.

Back in 2012 and 2013, CM Punk was upset that John Cena and The Rock went on last at WrestleMania ahead of his clashes with Chris Jericho and The Undertaker, respectively. This was a part of why he walked out of the company in 2014 and left a sore spot that took a decade to heal.

The former WWE and AEW Champion came so close to earning a title match with Cody Rhodes during Elimination Chamber. He made it to the final two, losing out to John Cena after eating a curb stomp from Seth Rollins.

John Cena then turned heel by siding with The Rock and kicking Cody Rhodes in the nuts. The Rock found somebody to sell his soul and has his own champion in the main event of WrestleMania. This annoyed CM Punk, which Drew McIntyre found very entertaining.

McIntyre mocked Punk by replying to a 14-year-old Tweet from The Rock, who explained why he was in the WrestleMania 28 main event.

“CM Punk: it’s simple business – The Rock is the main event at Wrestlemania cause it draws more money in one night, then u will in lifetime.” The Rock Tweeted.

Drew McIntyre took time out of his day to repost this Tweet. He commented that it was still relevant 14 years later, telling CM Punk to “cry more you bitch”.

“14 years on and still relevant. Cry more you bitch Punk. I’ll see you down the line,” McIntyre said.

CM Punk had plenty to say about The Rock and John Cena on RAW, including calling them both “bald frauds.” Catch up on everything that went down on RAW here.

Drew McIntyre Reveals What He Wanted To Say To CM Punk After Dig About Vince McMahon

Speaking with Inside the Ropes Magazine, Drew McIntyre revealed that he wanted to mention Vince McMahon firing CM Punk on his wedding day. However, he wanted to remain professional and hold his tongue. He let Punk get the win in this instance for the company’s sake.

“What’s going through my mind is, ‘The same person that fired you on your wedding day.’ But I’m a professional. I think by that point, people started seeing what I was capable of on the microphone. If you watched my stuff outside of WWE, you know when I’m comfortable and the reins are taken off me. I don’t care who it is, I can go toe to toe with anyone. Even Punk.” Drew McIntyre said.

“If you watch the first interview we had, the look in his eyes throughout the promo and how much it changed, you realise this is not the same kid that was an arse so many years ago. He was ready that night, I was ready that night and we went back and forth and back and forth, just hitting each other with these lines.”

“And again, this is not something that’s written on a piece of paper like you say this and I’ll say that. This is just two guys going for it, two guys that have got some banter, and two guys that genuinely don’t like each other in a place as hot as Chicago where Punk’s from.”

“Then that one line, once we’d finally go back and forth so much, it was a choice for me to make. Do I go back and then we see where we end up? Or do I bite my tongue and say OK, this round belongs to you. I’ll be a professional. I’ll do it for the company as well as the de facto babyface, even though I’m really the real babyface of the situation. So I let him have it. For the company, not for him,” added Drew McIntyre.
