Glenn Jacobs thinks blaming WWE fans for swinging the election towards Donald Trump is “insulting”.
2024 saw the second time that WWE Hall of Famer Donald Trump was elected President of the United States. His campaign saw Hulk Hogan appear on stage alongside Trump as he tried to court the votes of wrestling fans en route to victory.
Glenn Jacobs, aka Kane, responded to comments that claimed Hulk Hogan helped sway the election in Donald Trump’s favor on Going Ringside.
He said that claim was “an insult to the American people.” Jacobs maintained that if the public weren’t so shallow that they’d change their views based on some celebrity endorsements.
“I think that is an insult to the American people, actually,” Glenn Jacobs said. “Celebrities create buzz. When I ran for office, I brought in some of my colleagues and other celebrities. It brings people to your events so you can deliver the message, and yeah, it creates immediate buzz.”
“However, I don’t think it actually swings the election. What it does, is the people who are already for the candidate think it’s cool. But it’s not like people are gonna change their mind. The American people are not that shallow that celebrity endorsements sway their opinion.”
“Donald Trump won this election because he was a better candidate with better policies,” Jacobs said, before explaining how the Democrats lost the election with their candidates and policies.
Hulk Hogan got booed by the WWE Universe at RAW in January, largely in part due to his link to Trump (and his lack of atonement after his racism scandal). Hogan recently said he expected to get booed, admitting politics played a part in it.
