Joey Janela is recovering from surgery, but he says he’ll still face ECW legend Sabu at Spring Break 9.
Sabu appeared at The People vs. GCW in January and confronted Janela, who said he’d face him at Spring Break 9 on April 18th. However, it had been unclear whether the match would proceed as planned after Janela underwent surgery for a ruptured bicep earlier in February.
GCW announced that Janela would present Sabu with his Indie Wrestling Hall of Fame plaque at GCW The Coldest Winter 3 on March 1st. Janela came to the ring and noted that Sabu wasn’t there. He took some shots at Sabu, and the ECW legend showed up. Sabu attacked Janela and repeatedly hit him with a spike. He made Janela bleed profusely, but after officials separated them, Janela told Sabu that he would still see him at Spring Break.
Sabu has been wrestling for over 30 years, but he has not had a match since 2021.
