Cassie Lee Makes In-Ring Return At Smash Wrestling Event

Cassie Lee, formerly known as Peyton Royce in WWE, made her return to the ring at the Smash Wrestling event on March 1st.

Lee faced Alexia Nicole and went on to challenge Smash Women’s Champion Jody Threat to a match in April. She teased that she would bring Jessie McKay (Bille Kay) with her. The duo previously teamed up together as The IIconics/IInspiration. They are set to compete at Prestige Wrestling Nothing to Lose in April, which will mark their first tag team match since 2022.

Before the Smash event, Lee, a former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion and TNA Knockouts Tag Team Champion, had not wrestled since October 2023. She and Shawn Spears welcomed their second child into the world in June 2024.

Cassie Lee On WWE Dream Matches

Lee previously looked back on nixed plans for a match between The IIConics and The Bella Twins during an appearance on Ring The Belle. She noted that they were supposed to have a story.

“All I know is that we were supposed to go into a story apparently from Wrestlemania to SummerSlam. That’s all I know,” Cassie Lee admitted. Yeah, I know. That would have been a dream come true for us. But everything happens for a reason.”

In response to Torrie Wilson’s comments about a potential match where she and Michelle McCool would have faced The IIconics, Lee said that there were many missed opportunities.

“Oh, stop! No, I didn’t! Oh my gosh. So many missed opportunities,” Cassie Lee said. “No, I had no idea that would have been a dream come true as well.”
