Jey Uso wants to redeem himself after his match with Jimmy Uso at WWE WrestleMania 40 was widely criticized.
In 2024, Jey Uso faced his brother Jimmy in a singles match at WrestleMania 40, and the match arguably didn’t live up to the hype, it was widely panned by critics. A year later, Jey has more momentum than ever. He won the Royal Rumble, and he will challenge Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship at WWE WrestleMania 41.
Speaking with Shakiel Mahjouri for CBS Sports, Jey Uso said it was “do or die” for him, as he was facing a lot of doubters.
“This is do or die for me,” Uso said. “I feel like I am doubted a lot. A lot of people are doubting me right now, Uce. I’m not supposed to be in this position. I know that. They know that. But I’m going to shut them all up.”
“I’m still trying to prove myself. It’s OK. This is my story. I think a lot of people rock with me, Uce, because they watched me grow in front of them. They know where I came from. They raised me up. That’s all I’m going to do. Every Monday, I show up to work and I make sure to leave it all out there. I’m trying to enjoy this ride.”
Jey Uso On Match With Jimmy Uso
Jey also looked back on his singles match with Jimmy and noted that they had great tag team matches, but the singles bout didn’t quite deliver. Heading into WrestleMania 41, he aims to redeem himself.
“I always thought we put on great matches. If you look at it, we had great matches with The Wyatt Family, The Shield, The New Day. Now, I feel like I’ve had a couple of good matches but not ones that stick in people’s minds,” Uso said. “This is redemption time on the big stage. The pressure is on.”
