Ric Flair wants his daughter Charlotte Flair to beat his world title record instead of John Cena.
The Nature Boy currently holds the record for the most world title reigns, as recognized by the WWE. They total his collection of title wins, ranging from the NWA, WCW and WWE, at 16, although Flair considers himself a 21-time world champion.
With his retirement upcoming at the end of the year, John Cena is aiming to break the record and get his 17th WWE Championship. On his rear are Charlotte Flair and Randy Orton, with Ric Flair having strong opinions on who should break his legendary record.
Appearing on Busted Open Radio, Ric Flair gave his opinion on who should break his record. He revealed that he wanted John Cena to win the Royal Rumble so that talk would pivot towards Flair and his record on the build-up to WrestleMania.
However, he made it clear that 14-time champion Charlotte Flair would be his choice.

“I have to tell you how exciting that stuff with Uso and John Cena was—great, great story. You know, I said to myself, if they do take this with John—and this is a selfish comment—they’ll be talking about me more on TV than everybody else going into Theia, right? And when John hit the floor, I went, ‘Damn,’ because it would have really led to a lot of speculation about whether John would break the record,” Ric Flair said.
“I’d like it to be one of three people—Randy [Orton] Charlotte, or John. My first pick would be Charlotte. I have so much time for John Cena. He is truly one of the really great people in our business—polite and nice. At least to me, if I’d have to be missing something to say that he’s not special to me. John is very special,” the Nature Boy added.
