Ricky Saints Gets Emotional Reflecting On NXT Debut

Ricky Saints got emotional after he picked up his first win in NXT this week.

The former AEW star wrestled his first match in NXT since signing with the WWE in recent weeks. Ricky Saints and Je’Von Evans teamed together to face Wes Lee and Ethan Page in an explosive debut match in NXT.

Ricky Saints picked up the win for his team. He hit his Roshambo finisher on Wes Lee before pinning him, starting an undefeated streak on NXT.

Speaking in an NXT Exclusive, Ricky Saints emotionally reflected on his debut in NXT and how hard he had to work to get there in the first place.

“Wild. Absolutely wild. My story isn’t that untold, as they say—it’s pretty well known at this point. And I think I’ve overcome a lot just to make it to this moment,” Ricky Saints said.

“My first time here, I didn’t know what to expect. The second time I showed up at NXT, still didn’t know what to expect. But this time was different—I knew what was gonna happen. Old Ricky never died. While I thought I put him to bed, guess what? He woke up on his own two feet and was ready to go. Energized. Charged up like a 100% iPhone, you know what I’m saying?”

“If there was ever any doubt about me, tonight proved otherwise. If you’ve been sleeping on me for the past 14 years, we might as well call you a Tempur-Pedic. One thing’s for certain—I always show up and show out. I deliver every time. COD, you get what I’m saying?”

And I thought tonight was probably the most appropriate for where I’m at in my life. I’m an emotional man—I’m not afraid to admit that. But tonight felt like a fever dream that I don’t ever wish to wake up from,” Saints added.

Ricky Saints Wants To Be “The Man” In NXT

Saints continued, explaining how his goal is to be “the man” in NXT. His debut win tonight was the start of that.

“Yeah, absolutely. And there are some other things I actually wanted to tell you—one being the goals I set forth the day I signed my name on that dotted line. I said I was gonna be the man of NXT. I said I was gonna headline every NXT PLE. And if tonight wasn’t the start, I don’t know what was, you know what I’m saying?” Saints said.

“I am very honored to be here standing with you,” he added. “I am very honored to be here standing in front of this camera, in front of NXT. I don’t think that I ever envisioned my life ending up this way, but damn. At least I can freaking say that I made it through everything that was out there. I stood there with my head held high and my chest puffed out because I knew what I wanted and I knew who I was. And that will never change. And there will be no man nor woman that makes me forget that.”

“Tonight was a love letter to all the people that rode for me. And most importantly, tonight was a memory—a reminder, should I say, to the old Ricky. More than that, it was a letter of what’s to come for the new Ricky and the future Ricky. And I think you’ll like that guy too.” added Saints.

This week’s episode of NXT also featured the return of The Hardys. Catch up on everything that went down on the show here.
