JBL On Bloody Eddie Guerrero Match At Judgment Day 2004: Watching It Back, I Realized How Gruesome It Was

JBL couldn’t believe just how much blood Eddie Guerrero lost during their gruesome clash at Judgement Day.

The two WWE legends had one of the most iconic and controversial feuds of the mid-2000s. JBL’s antics, which included defending the border of America from Mexicans trying to get into the country, caused Eddie Guerrero’s mother to suffer a (kayfabe) heart attack.

This feud led to a bloody bout at Judgement Day 2004 over the WWE Championship. The match is infamous for the sheer amount of blood Eddie Guerrero lost, going into shock once the match had finished.

Speaking with Monopoly Events, JBL reflected on his match with Eddie Guerrero. He called it “gruesome” but admitted it was still an unbelievable experience to share the ring with the WWE Hall of Famer.

“I knew there was a lot of blood—a lot of blood—and I didn’t realize how much until I watched the match back. It was just puddles of blood.” JBL told Monopoly Events.

“It was unbelievable how much blood Eddie lost that night. People have said all kinds of things, that he went into shock and all that, but he didn’t. He lost a lot of blood. He did go to the hospital, but it was an unbelievable experience. Watching it back, I realized just how gruesome it was,” added JBL.

JBL: My Biggest Regret Is Eddie Guerrero Not Being Here

JBL spoke with the Something to Wrestle podcast about his biggest regret in life (H/T to Fightful for the transcription). The former WWE Champion revealed that it was the fact that Eddie Guerrero was no longer with us.

He joked that he wanted to “bash the young guys” about not knowing what they’re doing, with Eddie. JBL added that Eddie Guerrero was one of the nicest wrestlers and the world is missing having him not being here anymore.

“What a good guy. People ask me all the time, ‘What do I regret most in life?’. When you make as many mistakes as I do, you probably should regret a lot. But the thing I regret the most is that Eddie Guerrero is not here.”

“I wish Eddie were here now so that he could be on the show with us, so I could sit around and talk to him, like the old guys, and bash the young guys for not knowing what they’re doing. But Eddie was such a nice person and such a great person. He influenced so many people, not just by what he did in the ring but what he did outside the ring, because of who he was. Our world has really missed out by Eddie not being here.”
