Sami Zayn Doesn’t Think About Moments Lasting For Years, He Focuses On The Now

Sami Zayn doesn’t think about moments lasting for years and just tries to make them the best he can in that moment.

The former Intercontinental Champion is gearing up to face Kevin Owens at Elimination Chamber and spoke with Flamesnation. Sami Zayn was asked about the moment at the Royal Rumble 2023 with Roman Reigns and Kevin Owens, to which the Canadian had an interesting response.

Sami Zayn said that he didn’t think about the moment last for years in the minds of the fans. He likened wrestling to hockey, where you have to watch a match in the moment to get the full experience of it.

However, he thinks the fact people still talk about him turning on The Bloodline is “awesome”, adding that he did his best in the moment to make it as good as he could.

Sami Zayn: I Don’t Think About Moments Lasting Years

“I mean, it felt like—I don’t think about these things when we’re doing them. I don’t think, Oh, fans will remember this in five years. I just want to make it as good as it can be in the moment.” Sami Zayn said.

“Because really, I know now, with wrestling and content and everything, it’s about legacy and posterity. You watch stuff back 20 years later. But in my opinion, wrestling is a live art—it’s live, it’s one take, it’s about here and now.”

“That’s why wrestling is getting these big TV rights. It’s one of the few things, like sports—like hockey, right? You have to watch it now. Sure, you can go back and watch a classic game, like the Canada-Soviet game from the ’70s, and yeah, it’s a great game. But it’s really about watching it as it happens. It’s in the moment.”

“And that’s what makes wrestling great—for that one moment in time, nothing else exists. You’re just locked into whatever is happening right then and there.”

“So yeah, it definitely felt great in the moment. And the fact that we’re still talking about it a couple of years later? That’s awesome. But I think when you approach anything with the mindset of making it the best it can be in that moment, the rest takes care of itself.” added Sami Zayn.
