Nixon Newell, formerly known as Tegan Nox, briefly commented on her WWE run following her release from the company.
WWE released Newell on November 1. She is now a free agent, and she has been announced for an ATTACK! Pro Wrestling show.
During a virtual signing with Highspots’ Sign-it-Live, Nixon Newell noted that the Tegan Nox character was “so far removed” from who she is. She stated that WWE preferred her to be the girl next door.
“I’m very emo, pop-punk. This is me,” she said. “Tegan Nox was so far removed from me that I was trying to get this through but I just wasn’t allowed. They preferred me to be the girl next door, instead of tattooed up punk kid.” (H/t POST Wrestling)
Nixon Newell On Idea For Her Character
In a recent interview with Metro UK, Nixon Newell noted that she wanted her character in WWE to borrow from soccer hooligans from movies like Green Street, as she highlighted her history as a soccer player.
“Let me go a complete opposite,” she said. “Stomp on people’s skulls, like football hooligans do, headbutt people. I brought in the Zidane headbutt as part of my move set.”
