Matt Hardy opens up on The Hardys crossing over to WWE NXT.
TNA World Tag Team Champions Matt and Jeff Hardy appeared in a video on the February 18th episode of WWE NXT. They accepted a challenge from No Quarter Catch Crew The match was confirmed for the February 25th episode.
Speaking on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, the TNA star detailed how The Hardys’ NXT appearance came together. He stated that it was a last-minute thing.
“This was a very last-minute thing, I think,” Matt Hardy said. “It’s very cool because everyone knows that TNA and NXT had this partnership, TNA and WWE. I think it’s gonna continue to expand a little bit, but it has been so beneficial for TNA. It has also been very beneficial for NXT, and I feel like just over the last little bit, probably after Fraxiom showed up and they watched us defend the titles against The Rascalz, I would imagine probably the wheels started turning from the powers that be. Once again, I don’t know all the details on all these things. I’m still talent, I’m not booking, I’m talent. But I think there was some interest there. They’ve seen these post-show meet and greets we’ve been doing.
“Our popularity is great right now. It’s been off the charts, it’s been really, really strong. If you put us in a position to succeed and you let us do what we’re good at, and the people have a connection with us, and that connection is very strong. It hasn’t faded away, and it’s better than ever. I think there are some people that we can work with in NXT, especially on the WWE front, we are a WWE legacy tag team. We have been together for over 25 years, working pretty much on top of the tag team division in some capacity over the course of that while. So the fact that we are able to step out and get in the ring with other teams and give them a little bit of our rub that we have, and they kind of help us because they’re younger teams and they kind of keep us relevant in 2025. It’s a win-win. So really excited about this, man.”
Matt Hardy On Potentially Doing More With WWE
Hardy was asked about potentially doing more with WWE. He expressed that he was open to the possibility. Hardy also said that he did not know what the future held.
“I think so. We’ll see,” Matt Hardy said. “Even us popping up and responding to that challenge on NXT, that was a very last-minute thing. So it’s gonna be interesting, it’s gonna be fun. I don’t know where this ride’s going, I really don’t want to know where this ride is going because I want everything to be as natural and as organic and as real as possible, as authentic as possible.
“Even when that happened on Tuesday night, that little video that you saw of Jeff and I that was on NXT, that only existed about an hour, 45 minutes before that. It hadn’t been long,” he continued. “This is not something that had been long-term planned. It was very spur of the moment. That kind of makes you feel alive, it reminds you that you’re alive. It gets the adrenaline pumping and flowing a little bit. It’s been fun thus far, and I’m excited to see where we end up going with all this.”
Hardy also said that he believed that The Hardys could help talent in NXT, and it was a mutually beneficial situation.
