WWE looks to trademark Ricky Saints.
One week after his stunning (and then nameless) debut on WWE NXT, Ricky Starks revealed his new name as Ricky Saints, the latter part of which is a nod to his hometown of New Orleans.
The official reveal came on Tuesday’s episode of NXT when the “Absolute” star inked his contract with the brand in the middle of the ring. NXT General Manager Ava welcomed Saints with open arms. The same could not be said for Ethan Page and Wes Lee, however.
Following this contract signing and ring name reveal, WWE has applied to trademark for “Ricky Saints” with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The trademark, filed February 19, intends to cover entertainment services related to professional wrestling.
The full description is as follows:
- Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered live and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information; fan club services, namely, organizing sporting events in the field of wrestling for wrestling fan club members; organizing social entertainment events for entertainment purposes for wrestling fan club members; providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely blogs, in the field of sports entertainment.
Next week marks the in-ring WWE debut of Ricky Saints as he and Je’Von Evans take on Ethan Page and Wes Lee in tag team competition on NXT.

Ricky Starks embraces his new name
Across All Elite Wrestling and the independent circuit, fans knew him as Ricky Starks. Now with Ricky Saints in WWE, the former AEW Tag Team Champion gets to pay tribute to his hometown.
“‘Saints’ in itself is pretty indicative of New Orleans, regardless if you think of the football team, if you think of the French influence, things of that nature. It’s as close as you’re going to get to Starks,” Saints told Busted Open Radio. “I like the name. I know a lot of people are going to be — it’s going to take time for them to get used to it. And I respect that they care so deeply about me that they rebel against the name change. But at the same time, I am a product of New Orleans. And I want to pay respect to that as well.”
