Liv Morgan Recalls Having A Real ‘Oof’ Moment After Taking Her First Bodyslam

Liv Morgan details her first experience taking a body slam, explaining how much the wrestling ring really hurts.

The WWE Superstar recently appeared on the No-Contest Wrestling Podcast where she talked about the first big bump she took in wrestling. Liv Morgan revealed that the pain she felt from her first bodyslam – given by Nia Jax – made her question just how hard wrestling would be.

She explained that her brothers learned the same thing when trying a top-rope leg drop. Liv Morgan also explained how they made wrestling rings and why they were not “bouncy” at all.

“Speaking of Nia Jax—um, we were training together. We were in the same class when I first started, and we were learning body slams. Nia Jax gave me my first-ever body slam, and I just remember thinking, ‘Wow, are they all gonna feel like that?’ I was like, ‘Holy—if this is what it feels like every single time,” Liv Morgan said.

“So yeah, I just remember that being a real oof moment. The ring itself is held up by steel posts, layered with planks of wood. Then there’s a thin—when I tell you thin, I mean like Styrofoam-thin—padding, wrapped tightly with canvas to compress it all. It’s not bouncy. It’s not soft. If you jump, you’re not going to get any extra height. It’s just hard. It’s like a hard floor—there’s no give.”

“I have a wrestling ring in my backyard now, and I remember my brothers going in for the first time. They climbed to the top and did a leg drop off onto the ring because they thought they were going to bounce. Oh no. It was the craziest, most stupid thing I’ve ever seen in my entire life,” added Liv Morgan.
