Nyla Rose: It Meant The World, But I Wasn’t Ready For My First AEW Women’s Title Win

Nyla Rose has revealed she wasn’t ready the first time she won the AEW Women’s Championship.

The Native Beast made history in February 2020. Nyla Rose beat Riho to become the second-ever AEW Women’s Champion and the first openly transgender champion in a major wrestling company. It was a huge moment in wrestling history. However, it was one she was not ready for in the slightest.

During a joint virtual signing with Damage365 Promotions and Captain’s Corner, Nyla Rose spoke about how she didn’t feel ready for her initial title win. Nyla Rose also admitted that she would do things a lot differently if she could have another go as champion.

“I won the (AEW Women’s World) championship and it meant the world to me. Never thinking I would be signed, be at this level.” Nyla Rose said (H/T POST Wrestling). “But to be at the top, at the pinnacle of the promotion. The top of the food chain at this level. Now, I have a target on my back and everybody’s gunning after me.”

“I wasn’t ready the first time I won,” she admitted. “As emotional and as amazing as it was, I wasn’t ready at the time. I thought I was but I wasn’t. Now having been on the roster, been on the road and doing everything, there are some things I would like to correct from my first title reign and just do things a little bit differently. So if I ever get the opportunity to fight for the championship again and I come out victorious, I think it’s gonna be a little bit different this time.”
