Kyle Fletcher has revealed which former AEW Champion would be his dream opponent.
The AEW star has been one of the breakout singles stars in the company over the past year. His matches against Will Ospreay have helped elevate Kyle Fletcher as one of the most impressive wrestlers in the company, becoming one of the few men to beat the Aerial Assassin.
However, he still has more top stars to beat going forward. In conversation with DownUnderTheRing, Kyle Fletcher was asked about which main event wrestlers he’d like to face who he’s never wrestled before.
He immediately named Samoa Joe as a dream opponent of his. Kyle Fletcher revealed the pair have never wrestled before and put him at the top of his list of dream matches.
“There’s a couple… um, I think maybe the one I got asked the other day and the one that stuck out probably is Samoa Joe.” Kyle Fletcher said. “Yeah. Never touched Samoa Joe. Up until Dynamite, I never touched Buddy Matthews. So I think that would have been my other one. I would have been like, okay. But now that we’ve had a match, we’ve been in the ring together… Samoa Joe, I think, is the top of the list.”
Despite Now Hating Him, Kyle Fletcher Credits Will Ospreay As A Big Mentor
Kyle Fletcher has been embroiled in a long-running rivlary with Will Ospreay in AEW in recent months. However, he has credited him as being a mentor to him earlier in their careers.
“I am gonna hate giving him his credit. But Will Ospreay has been an even bigger mentor than he probably even realises,” Fletcher told Fox Sports AU. “I very much believe that if it weren’t for Will, I would not be in a position that I am now – which because I hate his guts, I hate giving him the credit, and I can’t wait to punch him in the face – but not even just as a friend, but being in the ring with him and him being my first big singles pay per view match.
“The fact that it was him made that whole experience so much easier, because when I was in the ring, I almost wasn’t stressed. I just know him so well. He knows me so well,” Fletcher continued. “I know where he’s going to be before he’s even there. That was just another thing that I didn’t even have to be worried about. I could just be in there and focus on me and do my thing.” Kyle Fletcher added.
