Cope Looks At Injuries In Wrestling As Challenges To Overcome

Cope takes pride in overcoming injuries and returning to the ring to do what he loves.

All Elite Wrestling‘s Adam Copeland recently sat down with Wrestle Radio Australia. When asked how he was feeling coming back from his recent leg injury, Cope said it’s not really something he thinks about by the time he’s back in the ring.

“Yeah, with any injury I don’t really think about them,” Cope admitted. “Like, once I come back, I put the work in before you see me in the ring. So for me, that’s already months past. So by the time I get back, I’m just on instinct. I’m not even thinking of a leg or anything like that. I think by my third match Beth, my wife said, ‘How’s your leg?’ Oh, yeah, it’s fine because I haven’t thought about it until you just asked me.”

When asked if coming back from injuries now is more difficult than it was earlier in his career, Cope said he doesn’t think so and that he looks at injuries as challenges to overcome.

“Not really, no. I look at injuries as challenges,” Cope explained. “I try to reframe them as opposed to this kind of demoralizing thing. It’s like, right, okay. One more to come back from. And one more to prove I can work through these things. I take some pride in that. I don’t want to get injured, but it’s part of what we do. Find me a wrestler who’s never been injured. It’s impossible. It’s part of it.”
