Ultra Pro Wrestling Secures The Rights To The AKI Name

AKI lives once again thanks to Ultra Pro Wrestling.

Last night during a Developer Deep Dive on the Ultra Pro Wrestling YouTube channel, Hyperfocus Games CEO Sam Vallely revealed the shocking news that they have secured the trademarks to the AKI name, logo, and the character AKI Man.

“Those games for the last 25 years have been dead. AKI was dead,” Sam Vallely said. “It was dead. And it’s not dead anymore, because Hyperfocus Games now owns the trademarks for AKI, AKI USA, and global. And of course, we don’t have to drop AKI Man.

“So what does this mean for Hyperfocus Games? Well, I mean, we’re not changing our name or anything like that. But it does mean that we can now promote AKI with this game. We now no longer have to say that we are a spiritual successor. We are now the actual successor.”

AKI is responsible for some of the most popular wrestling games of all time including, WWF No Mercy, WCW vs. nWo: Revenge, and Def Jam: Fight For New York.

Ultra Pro Wrestling continues to be in development. A release date isn’t known at this time.
