Michelle McCool Credits Dave Bautista For LayCool’s Split WWE Women’s Title

Michelle McCool has fond memories of her “B.F.F.” title reign.

The newly-announced WWE Hall Of Famer spoke with Chris Van Vliet about her career, which included two Women’s Championship reigns. McCool held the title during her LayCool run with Layla El, which resulted in both women walking around with their own respective titles.

LayCool tried to contest that they were both WWE Women’s Champion, despite McCool being the one to win it. As a result, they “argued” over who the real champion was. However, they pulled it apart after a quick tug-of-war and each took a piece. McCool told Van Vliet that she recalled Dave Bautista pitching the split title as a “B.F.F. necklace” to her.

“That was, I want to say that was Batista’s idea. We were backstage, and he’s like, Well, what If y’all cut it in half like the best friend necklaces? Our minds went there, and we’re like, that’d be great,” Michelle McCool explained. “And I don’t think anybody else thought it was a great idea. Like, come on, guys, that was fun. Yeah, that was fun.”

Layla would go on to win the title on her own in 2010, and she is recognized as the final WWE Women’s Champion (under the original lineage). Michelle McCool, the inaugural WWE Divas Champion, was recognized as the first Unified Divas Champion after the Divas and Women’s titles were unified in 2010.
