Tegan Nox wanted to reference her soccer background with a hooligan-style character in the WWE.
The Welsh wrestler was recently released from her second run in the WWE. Sadly, she struggled for TV time after being rehired in 2022 by Triple H. She rarely appeared and failed to impress when given meager opportunities to wrestle.
During this time, Tegan Nox tried to reinvigorate her character and reinvent herself. She pitched numerous new characters to Triple H, but that couldn’t stop her from being let go by the company at the end of January.
Tegan Nox, who now wrestles as Nixon Newell, spoke with Metro UK about one of her ideas for a new character. She wanted to use her history as a soccer player as a basis.
The Welsh star had trials with both Cardiff City and Wales as a teen. However, she wanted to emulate the soccer hooligans from movies like Green Street, rather than the players.
She even added the infamous Zidane Headbutt from the 2006 World Cup final to her move set. Additionally, whoever was brave enough to step into the ring would play the part of Marco Materazzi.
‘Let me go a complete opposite. Stomp on people’s skulls, like football hooligans do, headbutt people. I brought in the Zidane headbutt as part of my move set,”
Sadly, she never got the chance to bring the character to the WWE. Hopefully, with her return to the indies, she will be able to reinvent herself and find more success.
