2025 is the final year for John Cena as a professional wrestler. There are several wrestlers who want to wrestle Cena before he officially retires. One such star who would like to compete against Cena for one last time is the self-proclaimed Best in the World CM Punk.
CM Punk was a special guest on Daniel Cromier’s Good Guy/ Bad Guy podcast on ESPN. During the interview, Punk shared that he is trying to spend as much time as possible with John Cena as he’s nearing retirement. Punk also wants to wrestle Cena in one-on-one competition again.
“Oh, 100% [Want to do a program with John Cena during his retirement tour]. You know, I think he’s John Cena. He can call his shot. And he’s busy doing other stuff. But he’s spending more time here, giving back on his way out. And if that lines up with what he wants to do, like if… I would feel fortunate if he picked me to do anything with me. Promo segment, I think there’s history there. I think there’s a story to tell there. And selfishly, I just like being around John.
“I try to hang out with him as much as I could backstage at the Rumble. Just because I know this is fleeting. I’m not going to get the time to spend with him. So, I try to spend as much time as I possibly could with him. But yeah, I’d be a liar if I told you I didn’t want to do anything with him. And I’m crossing my fingers that we get to hook up on a PLE and have a match. At least on a big Raw for Netflix or something,” CM Punk said.
Both stars will face each other inside the Elimination Chamber on March 1st, in Toronto.
