Keith Lee Calls Recent Report Untrue, Clarifies Which Recent AEW Tapings He Was Backstage For

Keith Lee sets the record straight on where he has (and hasn’t) been.

On February 10, PWInsider.com reported Lee was backstage at “last week’s Dynamite taping in Athens, GA.” This was a mistake, as AEW was in College Park, a suburb of Atlanta, for Dynamite on February 5. AEW hosted Collision in Athens, which is nearly 90 minutes from College Park, back on January 11.

PWInsider’s Mike Johnson also issued a correction, confirming he intended to write Collision instead of Dynamite in his initial report, and apologized for the typo. The original report said Athens, but the update removed references to the city.

Lee has since commented on the claims that he was backstage in Georgia and said this is untrue. Lee said that he was at Collision in Rosenberg, part of the Houston metro area, on February 8. He also said he was briefly at Dynamite in Austin on February 11, noting he lives in Texas.

“For the record…. this isn’t true,” Lee wrote on Twitter. “I was at Collision in Houston. But I was at the Dynamite in Austin briefly. I do live in Texas after all. Good day.”

Keith Lee signed with AEW in 2022, but has been sidelined due to injury since December 2023. He was scheduled to face Swerve Strickland at that year’s AEW Worlds End pay-per-view, but was pulled from the match hours before the event. Lee reportedly had surgery in the early part of 2024 after dealing with an undisclosed issue since late 2022.

In October 2024, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select) reported Lee was still not cleared to return to the ring. The report stated Lee had still not been cleared for a return to action due to an “undisclosed medical issue.”
