Harley Cameron finally opens her mouth about how she got into ventriloquism and puppetry.
The Australian star has come out of nowhere to be one of the most entertainer wrestlers in AEW today. Her hilarious comedy, impressive comedy and fantastic puppetry has given her a unique skillset that makes her unlike any other wrestler in the world.
In recent weeks, her work with her Mercedes Moné puppet has been hilarious. It has been crucial to her feud with the real-life Mone, building to her homecoming at Grand Slam Australia next week.
Harley Cameron spoke about how she got into puppetry with The Daily Star. The AEW star revealed that she learned the art of ventriloquism working at a cabaret. She also revealed that she created the Mercedes Moné puppet herself, with help from Chris from AEW’s wardrobe department.
“So a long time ago, back in Australia, I worked at a cabaret, and the cabaret had very big emphasis on puppetry, and they were known for it,” Harley Cameron said.
“So I did many shows with the different puppetry acts, and I became obsessed with the puppets, and I went down my own journey of puppetry. And I was a vocalist at the time, so I started dabbling with learning the ventriloquism myself, and then I just became hooked on it, and it became a passion.”
“And I never thought I would do it when I became a wrestler. But here we are. I made mini Mercedes – she was an arts and crafts. And I have to say a big thank you to Chris, who works with us in the wardrobe department. He made her gear, which was actually some of my gear that I lent to her, and he created that fashion. So it was a group effort,” she added.
