A new Fightful Select report has shed some light on thesurprising releases of several talent from All Elite Wrestling, including Ricky Starks and more.
According to a new report from Fightful, the trio of Starks, Miro, and Malakai Black had all been looking to make their exits “for quite some time,” and were subsequently were removed from AEW’s roster page as of February 10, 2025.
When it comes to Black, Fightful notes that his original deal likely could have taken him through 2027, but that his desire to leave had begun some time ago. Miro — who hasn’t wrestled since 2023 — is said to be healthy and cleared for in-ring activity, but simply hadn’t been brought up in any creative regard for several months. His deal was originally set to run through 2026.
Starks, according to Fightful’s report, asked to leave the company in late 2023, and had asked AEW to not pick up his option, which they ended up doing. Following that, Starks wasn’t seen on many broadcasts, but was said to be simply working through his deal, which would’ve been up in a few months time.
Fightful’s report notes that all three superstars are not beholden to any non-compete clauses, and are free to sign and compete with any company they want beginning immediately.
