Report: More Details Surrounding The Recent Round Of WWE Releases

A new Fightful Selects report has shed some light on the WWE releases that took place this week, which saw the likes of Karl Anderson, Giovanni Vinci, and more being released.

The latest report dives into the behind-the-scenes information about the releases. Specifically, the main reason for them is cited as being related to a new group of superstars being called up and brought into the main roster in the coming year.

According to the report, Karl Anderson — who was released alongside Luke Gallows — remains actually injured after tearing his rotator cuff and labrum late last year. This makes the release odd, as Fightful notes WWE does not usually release injured talent, but there is no additional context available at the moment.

Blair Davenport is another superstar who was released and, according to the report, had been in WWE’s plans for at least the past few months. According to the report, Davenport was recently pitched on joining the tandem of Chelsea Green and Piper Niven as a “secret service” of sorts, with an outfit even being made, but nothing ended up coming of it.

The report also briefly touches on Giovanni Vinci and Alba Fyre, noting that Vinci’s vignettes didn’t end up “conveying” to the TV audience as a reason for his exit. As for Fyre, it’s unknown whether or not she’s been released yet, but her tag team partner Isla Dawn was already reported to have been released.

Finally, the report touches on AOP and Paul Ellering, and notes that the trio will likely plan on continuing to perform despite their release from the company.
