Charlotte Flair On NXT Return: It’s Always Surreal To Come Back

Charlotte Flair reflects on her NXT return.

As she assesses her WrestleMania 41 opponent options, Women’s Royal Rumble winner Charlotte Flair made a return to NXT, home of the NXT Women’s Championship. Currently, this title is held by Giulia. According to Flair, it doesn’t matter who is holding it as she would defeat them on WWE’s grandest stage either way. Nevertheless, she remains grateful for the opportunity to revisit her old stomping grounds.

“I spent a year and a half here [in NXT] training. All my rehab was here,” Flair told correspondent Sarah Schreiber following her NXT appearance, “my first time hitting the ropes, getting in the ring, getting familiar with the girls that are on NXT, so to come back where I’m home grown, where my first match was, where my coaches are. It’s always surreal to come back, to remember your roots. They definitely gave me a warm welcome, so I was very appreciative. But I also had the opportunity to talk about Roxanne and Giulia in the Women’s Royal Rumble, because they did do an incredible job there, not me, but they will get there.”

At NXT Vengeance Day, Giulia will defend the NXT Women’s Championship against Bayley and Roxanne Perez in a triple-threat match. Before then, they met for an NXT Women’s Championship summit, which, of course, intrigued “The Queen.” As such, she later hijacked the summit, leaving messages for its participants, all of whom also came face-to-face with Flair in the 2025 Women’s Royal Rumble.

“[Giulia and Roxanne] really did impress me. They really knocked it out of the park,” Flair continued. “And I do truly believe that NXT does have the greatest women’s division in the world. I do think Raw and SmackDown, when they get there, it is a different ball game. But here is where you build the foundation and they’re killing it, so I couldn’t have been more proud. But to give them the opportunity to say, hey, I might pick you, I might pick you, I might pick you. That’s what it’s all about, because I have picked an NXT Women’s Champion. The last time I won the Women’s Royal Rumble, so who knows who I’m going to pick. It’s on my terms.”

Following her NXT appearance, Flair will now head to SmackDown, home of WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton. Earlier this week, she and WWE Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley shared a moment on WWE Raw.
