Dominik Mysterio Reflects On Eddie Guerrero vs. Rey Mysterio At WWE Summerslam

Dominik Mysterio looks back at his career in wrestling kicking off at Summerslam 2005.

At that historic event, Dominik’s father Rey Mysterio battled against his long-time friend Eddie Guerrero. That match was a ladder match, with the winner getting custody of Dominik Mysterio in a bizarre stipulation indeed.

With Summerslam this year marking 20 years since Dominik Mysterio’s “debut” in wrestling, the veteran sat down with talkSPORT to discuss the match.

Dominik Mysterio remarked that he was a 20-veteran and explained that he preferred Eddie Guerrero to his “deadbeat” dad, Rey Mysterio.

He added that he studied Guerrero, due to his great record against his father, to get tips on how to beat Rey Mysterio as much as possible.

“You know, I am a 20-year veteran in this business. I started in ‘05. I go back and watch that match all the time. You know, I go back and study Eddie Guerrero. He’s the best, if not the greatest of all time, in my personal opinion.” Dominik Mysterio said.

“So I study everything that he did to that deadbeat, and I try to mimic it. You know, I try to, because whenever I get the chance… his record against my dad, or my deadbeat, was pretty spectacular.”

When asked why he preferred Eddie Guerrero over his real father, Dominik Mysterio explained that he was nicer to him and gave him candy.

“He was nicer to me. He gave me candy and stuff, you know? As far as my deadbeat, he would just—he would bring me to work and put me up for… like, what was that lady? She was like, I don’t know, she took care of—like, she took me away from my family, basically.”

“Terrible. Who does that? But I did get paid.” Dominik Mysterio added.
