CM Punk says losing is more valuable than winning.
Punk was one of the favorites to win the Men’s Royal Rumble match. Instead, Jey Uso emerged victorious instead.
Speaking on the Good Guy / Bad Guy podcast, CM Punk was asked whether he was disappointed when he found out that he wouldn’t be winning the Royal Rumble.
“I think early in my career, I would say yes. I think now, I’m actually more inclined to pitch me losing things because I think there’s a broader story to tell,” CM Punk said. “100%, it’s all about the chase. It’s like the most recent example I can give you is Cody losing to Roman at WrestleMania 39. That was Cody’s time, and he loses in the main event. It’s like, man, and he spends the entire year as a redemption arc, and he chases the title and he wins it at 40.
“So I look at everything like, the Rumble didn’t go the way I would have booked it, so to speak, since we’re just peeling the curtain so much here. I look at me and Cena as the last two guys. I would have had Cena throw my ass over the top rope because I think at this stage, I think losing is so much more valuable than winning. I’m afraid of me winning everything that I’ve ever dreamed of. Because what do I do then?”
