TNA World Champion Joe Hendry believes that he will face John Cena in 2025, and he says Cena talked to him about the possibility.
Hendry competed in the Men’s Royal Rumble match, which gave him the opportunity to speak with several WWE stars backstage.
Speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, Joe Hendry stated that he fully believed that he would wrestle John Cena in 2025. He also said that they had a conversation backstage at WWE Royal Rumble. Hendry then noted that Cena told him that he had to make the match happen.
“The same way that I believed that I would be in the Rumble, I hand on heart believe that I will wrestle John Cena this year. 100%,” Hendry said. “There’s not any doubt. I had the opportunity to tell John Cena that [backstage]. We had a long conversation. It was awesome. He’s the greatest. I’ll share of it, I won’t share it all, but basically, what he did say was that fortune favors the bold. What he made clear is that, if I want match to happen, it’s on my shoulders. I gotta make it happen. I gotta generate the interest to make it happen, and it was almost like a challenge.”

Hendry also said that Cena gave him some great advice, as they had a meaningful conversation.
“Aside from that, he gave me some great advice,” Joe Hendry said. “With all the chaos of the Rumble going on, John Cena sat down with me, and we had a long, meaningful conversation. He could have used that time to think about what he was doing.
“He instead invested the time to talk to me. So I think he sees something in me. But I have to prove myself. I have to put myself in a position where me versus John Cena is one of the most compelling matchups in professional wrestling. I feel like I can.”
