Austin Theory and Grayson Waller want to face John Cena before he retires from the ring.
The former WWE Tag Team Champions recently spoke on Gabby AF and shared their thoughts on potentially facing John Cena.
Austin Theory, who beat John Cena at WrestleMania 39, would love another chance to face him. He added that he cannot believe Cena is retiring, and he questioned what retirement in wrestling even means.
“I think that’d be awesome to get in there with him one more time,” he said. “Maybe I don’t have to hit him in the balls again—yeah, you know—but a different kind of match this time. My boy Grayson Waller probably would, but yeah, that’s amazing.
“I mean, look at the legacy of his career. And, I don’t know, it’s kind of hard to believe—like, is this it? Is this really gonna be it? I know, like, you’re not going to come back at all? What does retiring even mean in wrestling, you know?” Austin Theory said.
Grayson Waller: Anyone Who Says They Don’t Want To Wrestle John Cena Is A Liar
After Austin Theory, Grayson Waller jumped in and made it clear that he wanted to face Cena as well.
“Here’s my thing about Cena—you know, I think right now everyone wants that opportunity. The entire locker room. Every single one. If you say you don’t want to face Cena in the next year, you’re a liar.” Grayson Waller said.
“So, I think we both want that opportunity, but in different ways. I know Austin looked up to Cena a lot, and I kind of did too. But for me, I think the biggest respect you can show these legends is to go at them as hard as possible—say the meanest thing you can, kick them in the balls, kick them in the head. Because I think that’s how it used to be.”
“I think everyone is too much of a fan these days. They treat these legends like, ‘Oh, can I get some advice? Can I get your number and text you when I have an idea?’ And that’s not how I feel. I want to go in there and do it in the ring. I want to fight you, I want to go against you on the mic. That’s how I test myself. That’s how I show my respect. I think it’s just a different way of doing it.”
