Jey Uso: I’m Very Glad John Cena Was WWE Royal Rumble Runner-Up

Jey Uso was glad John Cena was the other man in the match at the end of the Royal Rumble.

Uso shocked the world on Saturday by winning his first-ever Royal Rumble match and punching his ticket to WrestleMania 41. He threw out John Cena last to win the match, knocking him from the apron after escaping from an AA attempt.

Speaking at the Royal Rumble 2025 Post-show press conference, Jey Uso was asked how he felt about sharing the ring with John Cena in those final moments. The former WWE Intercontinental Champion called the whole thing “emotional”. He added that he took the things John Cena said to him in the ring to hear and was very glad the sixteen-time world champion was the one in the ring with him.

“Emotional. Emotional. I’m in there, face-to-face, with the crowd going crazy. It’s crazy because I can’t hear anybody but him. Before we start to get rocking, I’m happy for you. I enjoy the little real things that happen in there that slide through.” Jey Uso said.

“I take it to heart, man. I never would’ve thought it would be John Cena and me in the final two. He almost got me twice in there. But I’m very glad it was John Cena,” added Jey Uso.

Jey Uso: No One Saw This Coming

Uso was also asked about his journey in WWE, and he noted that his win felt great, as it was a recognition of his hard work.

“It feels great, Uce. I’m the definition of real hard work,” Jey Uso said. “I ain’t ever complained. Just went to work every day, Uce. I said it out there, I’m like a tag team guy. Ain’t nobody seen me coming. No one saw this coming. I just stick to the code, man. Love what I do, respect the locker room, and it will all come back to you. That’s what happened tonight. I felt love, I felt energy. I really feel love when the WWE Universe looks at me.

“Even if you’ve never watched our product before, I just want to bring out positivity, Uce, energy, especially for the kids, and it’s all working, man. So I’m gonna still come out the mud, even though I got it now, Uce. Same mentality, just about to take it, Uce. I’m about to take over. Yeet”

During the post-show, Jey Uso said he wanted another crack at Gunther. Check out his comments here.
