WWE SmackDown saw an increase in viewership on January 31.
According to Programming Insider (via Wrestlenomics), SmackDown averaged 1.578 million viewers on Friday. The show drew a 0.51 rating in the 18 to 49 demographic. The viewership is up from last week’s episode when an average of 1.455 million viewers tuned in. Friday’s total viewership number marked SmackDown’s highest since November 22.
The demo rating also rose from last week’s show (0.44 rating in the same demographic). Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics noted that this was SmackDown’s highest number since the USA Network premiere on September 13. SmackDown ranked #1 in the demographic in primetime across cable and broadcast.
What happened on WWE SmackDown this week?
This week’s show kicked off with a promo from Kevin Owens. He was interrupted by CM Punk, and a match was teased between the two men for WrestleMania.
Michin defeated Chelsea Green via disqualification in a Women’s United States Title match. Green purposely got herself disqualified to save her championship.
Elsewhere on the show, Motor City Machine Guns and Los Garza defeated DIY and Pretty Deadly in an eight-man tag team match.
In the main event of the evening, Damian Priest and LA Knight defeated Jacob Fatu and Tama Tonga. Fatu attacked Priest following the match to close the show.
