Syuri is looking to make a major singles comeback in 2025 as she has her sights set on the IWGP Women’s Championship.
The God’s Eye leader recently spoke with Tokyo Sports about her plans for the upcoming year. Syuri specifically mentioned wanting to capture the IWGP Women’s Championship after unsuccessfully challenging Mayu Iwatani last year. She expressed feeling disappointed following the loss as she took a step back and focused on mentoring the rookies in her God’s Eye faction. Nonetheless, she looks to bounce back in 2025.
“As a professional wrestler, I want to shine. I didn’t achieve any results last year, so this year, I want to wear that belt [IWGP Women’s Championship] and show people that I’m amazing,” Syuri said.
On top of her experience in mixed martial arts, Syuri also revealed that she has been recently learning jiu-jitsu. She then vowed to take the belt off of Mayu Iwatani, who has held the championship for nearly two years.
However, Syuri faces a major hurdle on the way to an IWGP Women’s Championship match in Sareee. As previously reported, Sareee will compete against Syuri at Sareee-ISM Chapter VII scheduled on March 10th. The two are set to headline the show.
Sareee has also been vocal about wanting another shot at the IWGP Women’s Title. However, Syuri has said that she sees the match as an opportunity to gain momentum in her championship chase.
