CM Punk wants to have a moment with John Cena in the Royal Rumble match, but he’s not sure if it’s in the cards.
Punk and Cena previously faced each other many times during Punk’s first WWE run. They have not worked together since Punk returned to WWE in 2023. However, they will both be in the Men’s Royal Rumble match, which will mark the next step of Cena’s farewell tour.
Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show, CM Punk discussed competing in the Royal Rumble match. In one highlight, he was asked to comment on how he felt about John Cena.
“I love him to death,” he said. “I feel spoiled that I get to witness whatever journey he’s about to embark on. I think it’s exciting. I selfishly am looking forward to [the Royal Rumble match]. Hopefully there’s a moment where me and him can have a moment. So many guys, so many bodies. I don’t know if it’s in the cards, but we’ll see.”
CM Punk On Potentially Facing John Cena
Punk recently commented on potentially facing John Cena. At the Speaking at the RAW on Netflix post-show press conference, he was asked about possibly facing Cena and The Rock.
“I think I want gold around my waist. But those two names come with big fat paychecks, so I’m not gonna say no to it,” CM Punk said. “Could be interesting. I wouldn’t say no to it. I’m into the big high-pressure money situations. I think that’s when I come alive. I definitely owe The Rock. Definitely owe John. I would welcome both of them with open arms. I saw John, passed him in the hallway; he looked a little tired, looked like he needed to go to sleep. I’m sure I’ll see him in Indianapolis (the site of the 2025 Royal Rumble).”
