Bianca Belair assesses her upcoming challengers.
On tonight’s episode of WWE NXT, Bianca Belair and Naomi will defend the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships against Meta-Four’s Jakara Jackson and Lash Legend. For Jackson and Legend, it will mark their fourth attempt at capturing the titles. For Belair and Naomi, it will serve as their second televised title defense after the latter stepped in to replace an injured Jade Cargill.
During a recent interview with the Battleground Podcast, Belair shared her take on their next challengers. Belair gave her opponents credit where it’s due, but said their next match is going to require a great effort from Jackson and Legend if they want to retain.
“I will say Lash and Jakara are amazing,” Belair said. “They’ve come to SmackDown and had a few match. We had a tag match with them uh last year. They’re tough and they’re a great combination with each other. Last, she’s the Powerhouse and Jakara is more of like the high flyer, so they’re a great tag team. they came and they were hanging with us. they were hanging with the girls on SmackDown.
“They went to Saudi Arabia. It was us, Lash and Jakara, Kairi and IYO, and Chelsea and Piper, and they hung all the way to the end. Honestly, anybody could have won that match, so I’m really excited that they’re now the number one contenders. They’re going up against me and my tag team partner Naomi. But listen, I’m partnered with a veteran. Naomi has been in the game for 10-plus years. She’s a former champion, so us together as the tag team, they gonna have to bring it. It’s going to be a showdown.”
Jackson and Legend earned this tag title shot by defeating Unholy Union (Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn), a former pair of champions, on the January 14 episode of NXT. Elsewhere on tonight’s episode, Shotzi will challenge Fallon Henley for the NXT Women’s North American title. NXT Women’s Champion Giulia will also be in action as she and Bayley take on Cora Jade and Roxanne Perez.
