A new report provides an update on Asuka, who has been sidelined with an injury for the past few months.
Asuka has not wrestled since she and Kairi Sane lost the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship to Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill at WWE Backlash: France in May. She underwent surgery due to a knee injury, and she has been sidelined ever since.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select) reports that creative plans for Asuka’s return have been discussed and pitched. Sapp writes that there was word of a potential tag team match being pitched, but it was ultimately shut down.
The report notes that the timeline for Asuka’s return is not known, and it was not said whether she had been at the WWE Performance Center training yet. Sapp also emphasized that this did not mean that Asuka would be in the Royal Rumble match.
