Gisele Shaw On Potentially Appearing In NXT: I Don’t Think About It Much, My Day Will Come

Gisele Shaw thinks she will make it to NXT one day, having not made an appearance during the TNA/NXT partnership last year.

The former TNA Knockout spoke with Ring the Belle, claiming that “my day will come” when it comes to appearing in NXT. She also didn’t want to make being the first openly trans wrestler in WWE to “be a weird thing”.

“You know what? I don’t really think about it that much—well, no, no, no. I don’t want it to be like a weird thing. But in wrestling, there are so many things happening that I can’t take that personally.”

“To me, wrestling is like auditioning for a role. Maybe the role wasn’t the right fit for me. And that’s okay. I’m happy for all the people who went to NXT and their partnership. But my day will come, you know? And I feel like that’s what I need to focus on.”

Gisele Shaw On Trying Out For WWE With Athena

Additionally, Gisele Shaw revealed that she had a WWE tryout alongside Athena for the WWE a decade ago.

While Athena was signed, she was told to get more experience, which led Gisele Shaw working in Japan and the UK to hone her craft.

“Ten years ago, Athena and I actually had a tryout together in WWE. She was like the indie darling, and I had just started wrestling. We actually roomed together, and she was really there for me. I really appreciate that.”

She got signed, and clearly I didn’t. They told me, ‘You’re in your first year—go get more experience.’ And I was like, ‘Alright, cool.’ I felt like that was the route for me, and I was really happy they gave me that feedback because it pushed me to go for more. That’s when I went to Japan and the UK.”

“That tryout was my first one. The second time was the all-women’s tryout, where you see a lot of people now absolutely killing it. And I’m so happy for them.”
