Shawn Michaels was on hand to watch and moderate the contract signing between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens tonight, and thanks to some trash talk from Owens, he got the chance to deliver some sweet chin music.
Acting as moderator for the moment during tonight’s Saturday Night’s Main Event, Michaels watched as Owens and Rhodes jawed back and forth with each other about the belt. Owens claimed Rhodes was never really his friend, and that Owens had been waiting for his moment for 10 years, and was going to finally take it at the Royal Rumble.
To this, Michaels chimed in and noted that Owens sounded jealous. Owens didn’t like that, and quickly took some shots at the WWE Hall of Famer. He said Michaels himself had been jealous of things in the past, and mocked him for running away when things got tough, before signing the contract and slamming it into Michaels’ chest.
As Rhodes and Owens watched both titles be lifted above the ring, Owens got in a quick sucker punch to Rhodes, and when Michaels tried to intervene, he quickly kicked Michaels and set him up for a powerbomb, but a Rhodes superkick stunned him, and let Michaels get set for his signature finisher.
