Sheamus looks to dethrone Bron Breakker.
Sheamus has seemingly done it all in his WWE career, all except winning the Intercontinental Championship. At WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, “The Celtic Warrior” has an opportunity to finally reverse his IC Curse when he challenges Bron Breakker for the very title.
Breakker and Sheamus have squared off for the title twice before, with Breakker emerging victorious both times (albeit once by disqualification). In assessing their upcoming title match on The Ringer Wrestling Show, Sheamus raised an interesting comparison between himself and Breakker, one that specifically ties into a 2017 superhero film.
“You ever see the movie Logan? That’s how I feel. I feel like when the Logan’s fights the younger clone version of him, that’s what it kind of feels like when I’m wrestling Bron Breakker. He’s fast, tough athletic, a lot more athletic than I’ve ever been. He’s very strong, very physical and definitely my type of opponent. And I do love being in there with him because I know it’s going to be an all-out war.”
Sheamus Says It’s Time To Break His IC Title Curse
Regarding the Intercontinental Championship curse surrounding him, Sheamus notes that he’s had nearly a dozen televised opportunities to capture the title, dating back to 2011. Still, it has eluded him.
“It definitely feels like a curse at this stage, but it’s one I want to break at Saturday Night’s Main Event,” Sheamus said. “I’ll do everything I can to break it and become WWE first ever Ultimate Grand Slam Champion. I know people said before, Edge has done it first, but Edge won the WCW United States Championship. I’ve won the WWE United States Championship, so there’s a big difference here. It’s the full WWE. I think that’s where I want to be, man.”
