Matt Hardy Highlights Issue With AEW Not Capitalizing Talent Pushes, Says Wardlow Has All The Makings Of A Big Star

Recently, Quen and Zay, The Private Party defeated Matthew and Nicholas Jackson to capture the AEW World Tag Team Championships for the first time in their careers. One of their mentors and current TNA World Tag Team Champion Matt Hardy recently shared his thoughts on the AEW World Tag Team Champions.

While speaking on the recent episode of The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Hardy shared that the crowd’s cheering when Private Party captured the titles should have been a clear message to the higher-ups about how much support Quen and Zay have.

“Everyone knows I’m very, very invested in Private Party, and I think that whenever they won the titles, the genuine crowd reaction should’ve been a strong statement,” Hardy said. [H/T Wrestling Inc.] “It’s really easy to make people lose faith in them quickly if you don’t instill faith. They’re still — there’s not a lot of wiggle room in, like, not trying to make them look like strong champions. I feel like that is one of the issues with AEW.”

Matt Hardy appreciates Malakai Black

Matt Hardy not only spoke about Private Party but he also shared his concerns about other top stars as well. One of the wrestlers he highly praised was former NXT World Champion and former AEW Trios Champion Malakai Black. Hardy shared that he was not shocked by the support Black received from the fans.

“I mean, extremely talented individual. Very unique. He is a niche performer which really stands out. And I mean, yeah, that would not shock me at all, that would not surprise me at all.”

It is to be noted that there are rumors going around that Malakai Black will soon make his return to WWE once his AEW contract expires.

The current TNA World Tag Team Champion also mentioned that he feels that All Elite Wrestling dropped the ball on former TNT Champion Wardlow.

“I would like to see Wardlow land in a promotion and I would like to see them push the s**t out of him. He has all the making of a big star, just someone needs to, like, elevate him and put him in a position to succeed,” Matt Hardy said.

Wardlow has been out of action since the “Big Business” episode of AEW Dynamite in March 2024. Matt Taven later shared that Wardlow has been out with a knee injury. Prior to that, he only competed 16 times in 2023.
