Drew McIntyre Explains Why He’s Targeting Roman Reigns (And Not The Rock)

Drew McIntyre has taken to Twitter to explain why he is still targeting Roman Reigns and The Bloodline.

Ever since being screwed out of the WWE Championship at the first Clash at the Castle in 2022, Drew McIntyre has had it out for Roman Reigns and his crew. He has previously stated his goal is to win the Royal Rumble but wants to focused on getting revenge on those who have wronged him.

Drew McIntyre took to Twitter recently to explain his mindset going into 2025. He revealed why he is still targeting Roman Reigns, while also addressing his rivalry with Seth Rollins. Additionally, McIntyre explained why he isn’t targeting The Rock, despite being a part of the Bloodline.

Drew McIntyre On Why He Targets The Bloodline

“Let’s look at 2025 so far. This was meant to be a fresh start, a new era, but nothing really changed, has it? Despite all the forced rhetoric being shoved down our throats. Drew McIntyre is still being screwed by The Bloodline, speaking facts when so few are willing to speak facts, fighting the good fight, and yet, I’m still labeled the villain.” Drew McIntyre said.

“Let’s look at Seth Rollins. Last year, at WrestleMania, he was the sacrificial lamb, putting himself out there to take down Roman Reigns and give Cody the title. However, earlier in the night, he’d lost the World Title to me. This year, prior to Tribal Combat, over the ‘falafel’, he says all the right things, but as I’ve said, actions don’t always line up. He wasn’t there. Why? Because this time, he had other things on his mind — the main event, a personal issue. Not like last time, when he lost the title to me. Selfish. Not a leader. And to cap it off, I told him I’d say, ‘I told you so.’ What did he say 30 minutes later to Sami? ‘I told you so. I’ll deal with you Monday.'”

“Post Hell in a Cell, I said I’m not going to give you fans any more of myself or my family because, inevitably, you forget about everyone. I’ve talked to so many older wrestlers who just want that one last shot at glory, wish they did this, regret that. I’m not going to be that guy. I’m going to target the guys who wronged me personally.”

“What about the Rock thing? I’ve seen that online. ‘But Drew, he’s with The Bloodline. Why would you be nice to him?’ You’re not listening. Let me explain. He’s helped me, endorsed me, looked out for me. Has he wronged me? No. Quite the opposite,” added Drew McIntyre.

On Going After Roman Reigns & Beating John Cena

Drew McIntyre also said “The biggest question of all: Why do I want to stop Roman if I’m only looking out for myself now? I would discourage others from doing the same, because I want the title I was screwed out of at Clash at the Castle, in front of my friends, family, and people. That loss cut deep. It took a long time to recover. Honestly, I’m not recovered. I don’t know how you do it, Roman. You have magical powers. The company, the fans, everyone wrapped around your finger. No apology. Take a holiday, drink margaritas, get abs — it’s incredible. Sami, Jey, and Jimmy want their apology, but they don’t get it. You snap your fingers and boom, they’re at your side, happy to be side bitches.”

“It’s unbelievable. There’s only one way to stop you, since everyone else is basically talk. Win the Rumble again. Get my hands on Roman. You, Seth, Punk — it’s gonna be good. It’ll be a Rumble people will talk about for a long time. And the biggest thing of all will be when I get my hands on John Cena, destroying his chance at 17 before it even begins. Bliss.”
