TNA Genesis Results: Review, Grades, Card For January 19

Our TNA Genesis results for tonight include Nic Nemeth defending the TNA World Championship against Joe Hendry and Rosemary challenging Masha Slamovich for the TNA Knockouts World Championship. Plus, The Hardys will defend the TNA World Tag Team Championship against The Rascalz. Elsewhere on the show, Moose will defend the X-Division Championship against Ace Austin, and Tessa Blanchard will face Jordynne Grace.

TNA Genesis Results

The pre-show panel, which includes Mark Henry and the Busted Open team, kicks off the show and welcomes viewers. They preview the card for the show. Nic Nemeth and other stars are shown arriving.

In a taped promo, Jordynne Grace discusses her upcoming match with Tessa Blanchard. She says she doesn’t want Blanchard there, the locker room doesn’t want her, and the fans don’t either. Grace says she’s going to send Blanchard back to obscurity.

The pre-show panel continues to discuss the card. In another promo, Rosemary and Masha Slamovich discuss their upcoming match.

NXT liaison Arianna Grace appears and says she’s thrilled to be there. She accepts full responsibility and takes the credit for the relationship between WWE and TNA. NXT’s Ashante “Thee” Adonis comes out and addresses the crowd, calling himself the main attraction.

He issues an open challenge. Jake Something accepts.

Adonis takes the fight to Jake Something. Something gains the upper hand. Adonis slaps him, and Something drops him as he continues to overpower Adonis. Adonis takes control and grounds Something. Adonis maintains the advantage.

Something rallies and drills Adonis with a stiff shot. Something hits a spinning slam for the win.

Winner: Jake Something

Moose and JDC briefly confront the panel, who continues to discuss the card.

In a taped message, The Rascalz look forward to challenging for the tag team titles.

Frankie Kazarian vs. Leon Slater

Kazarian and Slater feel each other out early on. Slater takes control and hits Kazarian with a monkey flip. Kazarian sends Slater crashing to the outside. He grounds Slater and controls the action. Slater rallies with a flurry of offense. He gets a two-count with a crossbody. Slater continues to gain momentum.

Kazarian catches Slater and slams him to the mat. He takes control again. Slater gets a two-count. JDC distracts Slater. Kazarian blocks a 450 Splash by getting his knees up and pins him for the win.

Winner: Frankie Kazarian

The pre-show panel continues to run through the card. A video package highlights the main event match between Joe Hendry and Nic Nemeth.

TNA X-Division Title: Moose (c) vs. Ace Austin

Moos unveils the new TNA X-Division Championship on his way to the ring. Austin catches Moose by surprise with a flurry of offense early on. Austin rocks Moose with a superkick and continues to control the action early on. Moose gains the upper hand by overpowering Austin. He sends Austin into the barricade. Moose charges Austin, but the challenger evades him, sending Moose into the barricade. Austin slams Moose onto the floor. JDC interferes, and Moose chokeslams Austin onto the apron.

Austin narrowly avoids getting counted out. Moose maintains the advantage. Austin rallies. Moose takes control again, but Austin fires up once more. Austin hits a springboard kick and a double stomp. Moose slams Austin off the second rope. Austin and Moose trade blows. Moose headbutts Austin. Austin sends Moose flying off the apron. JDC interferes again. Moose accidentally hits JDC with a Spear, and Austin hits Moose with The Fold on the floor. Brian Myers and Eddie Edwards come out, and Austin dives onto them.

Moose hits a Spear for a near fall. Austin rolls up Moose for a two-count. Moose hits two Spears for the win.

Winner and still TNA X-Division Champion: Moose

Moose celebrates after the bout. Eric Young and Steve Maclin come out to stop The System from attacking Austin. They kick-start a brawl with Myers and Edwards to begin their match.

Steve Maclin & Eric Young vs. The System (Eddie Edwards & Brian Myers)

The match starts with a chaotic brawl. The System takes control, and Alisha Edwards interferes and helps them maintain the advantage. Maclin tries to tag Young, but Myers stops him. Myers and Edwards gang up on Maclin and keep him isolated. Young tags in and clears house with a flurry of offense. He hits an elbow drop for a two-count.

Myers and Edwards double-team Young. Young counters a Spear. Alisha interferes again. Myers hits Maclin with a Spear for a two-count. Maclin and Young take control.

Young dives onto Edwards, and Maclin hits Myers with the KIA for the win.

Winners: Eric Young & Steve Maclin

TNA Knockouts World Tag Team Championship: Spitfire (c) vs. Ash by Elegance & Heather by Elegance

Spitfire gained the upper hand early on. Ash and Heather Took control with a series of double-team moves, including a DDT/stomp combination. They isolate Luna and continue to maintain the advantage. Threat tags in and swings the momentum in the champions’ favor with a flurry of offense. Heathe accidentally hits Ash when going for a double-team move. Threat keeps fighting, and she dives onto the challengers.

Luna dishes out some suplexes. Heather hits a crossbody. Threat tosses Heather out of the ring. Threat floors Ash with a German suplex. Luna and Threat pin Ash with a double-team powerbomb to retain.

Backstage, Frankie Kazarian comments on his win and says he is focused on the main event world title match. He teases getting cashing in the title shot he earned by winning the Call Your Shot Gauntlet.

Tessa Blanchard vs. Jordynne Grace

Grace immediately takes the fight to Blanchard and hits a Juggernaut Jackhammer on the floor. Grace slams Blanchard multiple times. Blanchard smashes Grace onto the apron and gains the upper hand. Back in the ring, she grounds Grace and maintains the advantage. Grace rallies, but Blanchard hits double knees for a two-count. Blanchard heads to the top, but Grace meets her there and hits a Fallaway Slam. Blanchard and Grace trade blows. Grace slams Blanchard. She hits a powerbomb for a two-count. Blanchard slams Grace for a two-count of her own.

Grace dumps Blanchard with a spinebuster. Blanchard catches Grace with a neckbreaker. Grace slams Blanchard off the steps with a Death Valley Driver.

Blanchard and Grace keep battling. Blanchard counters Grace and hits a Crucifix Driver off the top rope. Grace goes for a slam, and Blanchard counters into the Octopus hold. Grace escapes and slams her way out of it. Blanchard catches Grace with a kick. She drops Grace with a cutter. Grace hits an inverted Alabama Slam for a two-count. Blanchard hits Buzzsaw onto a partially exposed turnbuckle. Blanchard hits Magnum (diving codebreaker) for the win.

Winner: Tessa Blanchard

I Quit Match: Mike Santana vs. Josh Alexander

Alexander and Santana battle it out early on. They’re evenly matched in the opening minutes. Santana catches Alexander with some boots and dives onto him at ringside. Alexander catches Santana with a suplex on the floor and takes control. He sends Santana into the steel steps. Alexander targets Santana’s leg and traps him in a leg-lock around the ring post. Alexander hits Santana with the Three Amigos. He dumps Santana with a slam onto the apron. Alexander continues to control the match with some German suplexes.

Santana rallies and hits a cannonball in the corner. He hits Alexander with a Death Valley Driver. Santan’s boot comes off, and Alexander dumps him with a back body drop over the ropes, sending him through a table. Alexander slams Santana on the floor. He hits Santana’s leg with a chair multiple times. Santana laughs and refuses to quit. Alexander gets some zip-ties, but Santana fights him off. Alexander hits him with some stiff blows. Santana kicks out of a C4 Spike and fires up with a flurry of offense. He hits a hurricanrana off the top and a frog splash. Santana hits Spin The Block.

Santana gets the zip-ties and uses them on Alexander. He traps Alexander under a table and hits a Cannonball onto him. Santana brings out a Slapjack (cue balls stuffed in a sock” and hits Alexander several times. Alexander says, “You’ll never be the guy, Mike.” Santana puts his boot on the back of Alexander’s head and is about to smash him into the steps, but Alexander says he quits.

Winner: Mike Santana

After the match, Santana tells Alexander to face him like a man. He tells Alexander to keep his word and shake his hand, and Alexander does. Alexander says he’s a man of his word, and he says Santana is the standard of TNA now. Alexander says he quits TNA.

TNA World Tag Team Championship: The Hardys (c) vs. The Rascalz

Before the match, NXT Tag Team Champions Fraxiom (Nathan Frazer and Axiom) appeared. They pulled up chairs and watched the match. Trey Miguel and Matt Hardy went back and forth early on. Wentz and Jeff Hardy tag in and trade fast-paced offense. Matt takes control. The Hardys double-team Mifuel. The Rascalz take control with some tandem offense. Matt Hardy catches a diving Wentz and hits him with a Side Effect. The Hardys continue to control the bout. They hit the Plot Twist, and Wentz breaks up the pin.

Wentz hits a double dropkick. The Rscalz gain the upper hand. Matt Hardy briefly faces off with Fraxiom. Miguel dives onto Fraxiom, and security comes out to separate them. Fraxiom is taken to the back. Jeff hits Poetry in Motion off the steps.

Matt hits Wentz with a Side Effect. Miguel kicks Matt. The Hardys hit Poetry in Motion. The Rascalz double-team Jeff Hardy. Jeff rallies and hits Twist of Fate. The Hardys hit the Swanton/Twist of Fate combination for the win.

Clockwork Orange House of Fun Match for TNA Knockouts Title: Masha Slamovich (c) vs. Rosemary

Slamovich uses weapons right away and hits Rosemary with a garbage can lid. Rosemary tries to use a staple gun on Slamovich, and Slamovich staples her hand. Masha staples Rosemary’s armpit. Rosemary spits mist in Slamovich’s face and takes control. Rosemary catches Slamovich with a drop toehold, sending her into a chair.

Slamovich chokes Rosemary with a chain. Slamovich goes for a senton, but Rosemary moves, so Masha lands on a chair. Rosemary brings out Janice, the weapon made famous by Abyss. Rosemary hits Masha with Janice and drags it across the champion’s back. She heads to the back and comes back with a bag full of thumbtacks, which she dumps out. Rosemary Spears Slamovich onto the tacks. Slamovich slams Rosemary onto a barbed wire board and hits a diving stomp. Rosemary tips over a ladder, sending Slamovich crashing through a table at ringside.

Rosemary lays Slamovvich out on some charis. Slamovich rallies and hits a piledrive onto the stairs for the win.

Winner and still TNA Knockouts World Champion: Masha Slamovich

NXT’s Cora Jade comes out and confronts Slamovich after the match. She gets in Slamovich’s face, and they stare each other down. Slamovich raises her title in Jade’s face.

The pre-show panel discusses the main event match. Ryan Nemeth interrupts, and Santino Marella announces that he’s banned from ringside.

TNA World Championship: Nic Nemeth (c) vs. Joe Hendry

Nemeth and Hendry feel each other out early on. They go back and forth, and the match is a stalemate. Hendry catches Nemeth with a knee to the face. He dumps Nemeth with a slam. Ryan Nemeth appears in the crowd. Nemeth grounds Hendry and controls the action. Hendry rallies, and they trade blows. Hendry dumps Nemeth with a Fallaway Slam. Nemeth counters the Standing Ovation. Nemeth headbutts him, but Hendry powerbombs him.

Hendry hits an AA. Nemeth hits a crossbody, but Hendry rolls through. He goes for a slam, but Nemeth counters into a Fameasser. Hendry hits a Fallaway Slam from the turnbuckles. Frankie Kazarian comes out with his Call Your Shot trophy, but John Layfield stops him and clotheslines him. Layfield also takes out Ryan Nemeth. Hendry hits the Standing Ovation for a near fall. Nemeth answers with the Danger Zone for a near fall. Hendry hits the Standing Ovation for the win.
